A loving mother, and submissive house wife makes for the perfect depiction of a middle aged lady conforming to her gender role in a patriarchal society. June Cleaver from Leave It to Beaver embodies all the characteristics that make women perfect. Conforming to standards and practices in a patriarchic society has been part of the American culture since colonial times. Connect previous two sentances June censors her behavior and is passive to the idea of male superiority by embracing being a mother and caretaker for her husband. Foiling the ideal woman like June Cleaver is Chelsea Handler name Chelsea first, who takes charge in changing the role of what being a lady entitles.  As a host, comedian and author, Chelsea Handler has always defied the woman role role of a woman. Handler has made personal choices, and voices her opinions, contradicting the fixed role of women in society. Keep tense the same. Handler’s desire for success has been a major deciding factor= wordy to the choices she makes, rather than conformity to her gender role. Not only is Handler the only women on late night television, but her books have made New York’s Times Best Sellers list. Chelsea’s unfiltered opinions have been broadcasted and read throughout the country, fighting back choose different verb the gender roles of women and the conformity to the June Cleaver lifestyle.

Chelsea’s motherly instincts do not seem up to part of to ?those of a typical thirty-six year old woman. Handler states, “I could have been a mother three times…. but I made the right choice” (Babies) this i text citation could be confused with text i.e. it looks like you’re clarifying, showing her views on abortion by using one of her many trademarks: dry humor. It feels like a lot of information was passed on in those past two sentences…expand for clarity Handler stands up repeatedly for abortion, a choice she clearly believes to be her own. Handler does not conform to the stereotypes people set out and makes sure her opinions are acknowledged. Chelsea addresses this serious subject in a blunt manner, putting her choices above those of irresponsible mothers. Chelsea states “it is not okay to have two kids and run around town showing off your ‘hot pocket’” (Babies). In reference to Brittney Spears, she clearly agrees abortion is the right choice when you can’t keep your act together. Handler repeats many times she would not give up her lifestyle and “vodka for nine months” (Handler). In a serious chose a more creative way to say serious interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, Chelsea reassures that she does not want kids. Child baring years coincide with the time she has most career opportunities, so Chelsea has deiced not to limit her success.  Chelsea discusses her theory that success might be only accomplishable? re-word without the distraction of children. Many mothers would be appalled by Chelsea’s view on abortion and motherhood, but she refuses to conform to a their motherly role; she sees herself above the normative woman.  During her round table discussions on Chelsea Lately, Handler and Sara Colona, also referred to as “Chelsea light”, discuss how they got their tubes tied together and celebrated after by having tons of sex. To many women, getting their tubes tied before having children seems like no like taboo, since the American dream for a woman entails being a mother to a house full of children. Chelsea defies these standards and has been the Jewish girl with no boundaries?. Chelsea’s success might be attributed to her decision of being a woman with no ties to children, as well as any men.

Chelsea Handler is not only defiant when it comes to her choices about motherhood, but also to her fast-ending relationships. Handler’s most notorious relationship was with rapper 50 Cent. 50 (refer to him by his real name, Curtis Jackson–adds a level of professionalism)  appeared on Handler’s show numerous times, and made tons of jokes about the obvious race difference between the two. Handler of course did not seem interested in the racial aspects of a Jewish girl dating a black rapper; instead she focused on the sexual aspect. As portrayed by the media and on Chelsea Lately, their relationship was nothing serious, mainly only ? mentioned to pay tribute to their sexual triumphs. Handler and 50 Cent’s short lived relationship served to show revealed Handlers priorities; her career, which is first to her personal life. Maybe a thirty-six year old single woman should take her relationships more seriously (this opinion is a little contradictory to the stance on women in relationships you’ve developed); but not Chelsea. When asked in her CNN interview, Handler ignored her status as an unwedded late-aged women and jokingly questions, “what wedding? … There might be a wedding for me someday or maybe not”(CNN). Handler later reveals her opposition to the idea of long term commitment because of her success that trumps the standard practice of relationships. this sentence is very difficult to follow

Chelsea’s fan base excludes traditional thinkers, and those who find it necessary to filter their thoughts and opinions. Chelsea’s sexuality plays a big be more descriptive role in her show as well as being the main focus in many of her books. Handler’s view of sexuality can be seen with genderless ideals. Unlike many women’s perspective of sexuality, Chelsea categorizes herself as a woman who enjoys sex, with whomever she wishes. To most women, having multiple sex partners with no emotions attached seems unrealistic, but for Chelsea it means gender equality. A man being promiscuous has generally been looked over as part of their natural necessities ?; but for women it continues to be frowned upon. Chelsea tries to break this ideology via through her books and the discussions on her shows. At seven years old, Chelsea got tricked into taking a picture of her mom and dad……?, many people wouldn’t want to recap such a memory but Handler makes this the opening chapter in, My Horizontal Life. Chelsea recaps personal stories of her love for sex in her multiple stories of one night stands. Like many men, Chelsea never takes sex too seriously or too personal (is that so?). Handler continues her efforts to try to destroy any barriers between men and women through publicizing her stories and using her success to her advantage.

In a later chapter of Chelsea’s My Life Horizontal, she introduces her best friend Shoniquia as “Black. Six feet tall and has the ass of a medicine ball,” the perfect best friend for a feisty half-Jew like Chelsea (Handler, 107). quotations in right spot?  Chelsea chooses to defy racial boundaries and surrounds herself with a diverse crowd of people that give her insight to different cultures. Handler is able to diversify her jokes to can you diversify to something? every culture and media figure without limitations.  She chooses to not be known as the stereotypical white-Jew; instead she puts herself on the level of many other minority cultures to allow herself to joke freely. Chelsea’s cast expands from a Mexican nugget, to gay Jews and a hand full of Asians.  The cast of Chelsea Lately allows her to broaden her jokes and make fun of absolutely everyone, especially gays and women’s sexuality. Chelsea is involved in the “I am Equal” project that goes against conservative views on sexuality.  Chelsea has also contributed to exposing many other female comedians like her best friend Sarah Colonna, Whitney Cummings, Natasha Leggero, Jen Kirkman and Heather McDonald. With a boss and mentor like Chelsea Handler, these round table comedians can be make this a statement, not a possibility.  they ARE recognized recognized in the media and have a better chance to one day fit in with the men of comedy, or Chelsea Handler.

Being only the second female in history with a slot in late night television makes Chelsea have to compete this sentence could be written in a much clearer fashion with acts like John Stewart, Letterman, O’Brian and Leno. Chelsea’s success can be seen in her ratings. She averages 900,000 views per episode, grasping more female viewers than Jimmie Kimmel Live, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Chelsea Handler has led the way for female comedians to express themselves freely with uncensored thought. Success has been reached for Chelsea.  Although she has no child or husband, Handler has gone beyond where any other female comedian has. Chelsea’s choices set her beyond the women who cannot find a voice and sink to conformity, and her humor sets her above the critics who don’t believe in female comedians.

Overall pretty good.  The beginning starts out with her challenging a woman’s role in American culture while the end focuses on her being on the same level as male comedians.  Perhaps you could use this last point to prove your first point about her breaking gender stereotypes; it would make for a more rounded conclusion.  It seems like there aren’t too many differences between paragraphs so maybe some distinctions can be made.  Many sentences felt like they had been scrambled and I had to pull it apart in chunks to fully understand. Sometimes I felt like you assumed I knew more than I did, so I was left not quite understanding something.  There’s a lot of mentioning of Jewishness but you don’t talk about it as a factor in anything… hmmmmm. Try using less passive voice and more active voice- it gives the text a more dynamic feel and is less of a simple recounting of facts and actions.  An idea for a title would maybe be a quote of hers regarding having kids like, “Kids are a Waste of Time” or something like that. (that’s not real quote by the way)  Looking back I would have liked to seen/read some scene or quote that followed a joke to completion so I’d have a better sense of her stage presence. Prove to me as the reader that she is in fact funny! Finally, it seems like you are praising Handler while at the same time making known that she is a defector…which are you trying to do?
